Sharifa

Sharifa Anozie is a two time best selling author, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. A graduate of Penn State University, she holds a B.A. in Journalism with distinction from the College of Communications.

Sharifa’s writing and public speaking experience spans back more than two decades, when she first interviewed nationally prominent civil rights advocate Carolyn Goodman at 12-years-old. Her poem dedicated to Mrs. Goodman was highly recognized by major media outlets including; The New York Times, Children’s Express and Opportunity Keeping Magazine. Working intimately with the non-profit organization Community Works, Sharifa’s poem was also featured in their Long Walk to Freedom exhibit traveling around the country. Since then Sharifa has interviewed and reported on a myriad of celebrities including; film director Spike Lee, Don Lemon, actor Idris Elba and Grammy winning artist Ne-Yo to name a few.

A year after graduating from Penn State, Sharifa was selected to join the highly competitive CBS Page Program in New York City. She began working on assignments at the CBS Early Show, 48 Hours, BET’s 106 & Park and the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. It wasn’t long before she was offered a permanent position working for the Executive Producer of the CBS Evening News.

An avid encourager for following your big dreams, Sharifa followed her own, by moving across country to pursue a career in entertainment news. In 2012 she began working at The Hollywood Reporter; writing for print, online and covering various red carpet events in Hollywood. In 2014 she founded The Sacred Word a jewelry company, establishing an audience of more than 300,000 across all platforms. In 2020 she published her debut children’s book It’s In You: A Book For Big Dreamers which became an Amazon Best Seller in two months and received outstanding reviews.

In her spare time Sharifa is committed to mentoring and empowering young people in her community and helping the houseless in the L.A. area. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband Jonathan and their three children.
